Abocom was founded in 1995 with a foundation of developing and manufacturing PCMCIA Ethernet cards and modems. We became a pioneer in combining LAN/FAX/Modem on one PCMCIA card, which not only brought efficiency to carrying computer gadgets around but also strengthened our reputation in LAN/WAN integration.

With experience on LAN/WAN related products and delicate PCMCIA cards, Abocom went on to develop broadband and wireless internet, including ADSL Modems, ADSL Routers, Multi-Homing Security Gateways, Bluetooth products, and IEEE802.11 WiFi Wireless products in 1999. Moreover, we started to sell products as our own brand, and built our reputation with excellence in developing and motivation in marketing.

In 2014, the company started to develop products related to Android Mini PC (a.k.a Linux Micro-Computers), in which the set-top boxes and Miracasts became popular in retails. Digital Signage Media Players were developed in 2015, and in 2016 we started to produce them under our own brand with a variety of solutions.

The Abocom management team reformed in 2017.

The company changed directions in 2018, starting out with 6 new business including the optimization of the previous foundations. The new team is aiming to lead the trending market and guide the company to a new level of success.

Information Security

Being the world’s greatest brand in information security, Sailpoint has the leading identity and file governing systems. There have been huge fines charged by governments from major companies for their data breach incidents recently, with very strict investigation in money laundering. Abocom, being the distributing brand for Sailpoint in Asia Pacific areas and Japan, had contracted China Airlines for 12,000 copies of the software, and is negotiating with Taishin Bank, Sunny Bank, and Yanta Bank, while customizing cloud service with Pegatron and Asustek. Apart from software sales, Abocom also benefits from annual product renewal or maintenance from existing clients such as Bank of Taiwan and dozens of other enterprises.

Government Tenders

Cooperation with telecommunication companies such as Chunghwa Telecom and Far Eastone has led Abocom to commence or negotiate tenders on many public projects such as advanced bus systems trial in Taipei City, Acer’s smart parking poles, and rest stop parking guide systems in Nantou and Donshan. There are other more projects, including Freeway Bureau’s automated system gateway in Nankang, traffic control facilities in Yi-Lan, as well as the restore construction of TaiSugar’s logistic warehouse and image recognition system of shoe factories in Vietnam. By participating in these projects, Abocom is able to accumulate related experiences while generating revenue.

Network Communication Products

Sales of communication network products is currently the major revenue of Abocom. Revenue between January 2018 to November 2018 had a 20% decline compared to the same periodic revenue of the previous year, with the shortage and price surge of devices and excessive orders. Specific models have been chosen to replace the original production but still couldn’t meet the ends of the order, therefore it is not an actual decline and late shippings will continue as we fill the orders eventually. Abocom’s current major clients are AVM, Animom, Apption Labs, Synology, Chun Huei, and NextDrive, and is also developing and producing blockchain mining devices recently.

Advanced Wafers

Advanced wafers business is a new product to be added to the production line. Abocom will import 8” and 12” wafer reclaim equipments, which enables us to lapping, testing, and developing related items. It is also expected that the entire technological process will be sold as solution to upstream and downstream wafer makers in the near future.

Data Storage

Abocom is the outsource for Chun Huei and Phison currently, and apart from the subcontracting, the new management team will leverage further decades of their experience in data storage devices and lead the company to commence developing and manufacturing of SSDs and 3D flash chips. It is now in the process of test devices evaluation, and will serve as one of the most important source of revenue of the company.

VCSEL chip

VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) is the chip ingredient for mobile position sensors, 3DToF, active optical network, and MINILED, and is also treated as strategic resources for the need of delicacy in fields of optical communication and 3DToF. Abocom is investing in the leading home-brand stacking design with cooperation with domestic universities to produce heat-resistant and high-speed VCSELs for domestic optical communication manufacturers to form a valued supply chain and break the monopoly of the original supply chain.
